Mickey Ryan is a young Costa Rican film director, producer, and cultural promoter from Puerto Viejo, Limón in the Southern Caribbean of Costa Rica. With a father from New York and a Nicaraguan mother, Mickey embodies the cultural richness of growing up in a melting pot of cultures, surrounded by the lush natural beauty of Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast. He studied Film and TV at Universidad Veritas in San José and has over seven years of experience in international production services, working on projects for global brands like Bacardi, Corona, and HEB (Super Bowl 2019), as well as for productions on Apple TV, Amazon, and music videos for artists like Major Lazer, Anitta, and Ricardo Arjona. Nationally, he has worked on notable feature films such as Ceniza Negra (2019), Clara Sola (2021), and Tengo Sueños Eléctricos (2022).As a director, he released the Costa Rican documentary El Gran Error (2024) and recently completed work on the Costa Rican feature film La Casa de Playa (2025), where he served as production coordinator, location manager, and associate producer. With each project, Mickey aims to strengthen the film industry in the Caribbean and promote cinematography on Costa Rica’s Atlantic coast, combining his local expertise with solid technical and artistic knowledge.
